The Animal Rescue League Website

Hello, all!

As you may have noticed, the ARL website is undergoing construction. We apologize for any confusion or frustration that may be caused as we work on this project. Ultimately, the changes that we are making will make the site easier to navigate and connect with other supporters of our mission through our online community pages. We expect to have the bulk of our changes made before Spring 2010. Of course, we will continually make updates as needed to keep information current.

In addition to revamping our website, we encourage our supporters to join our Online Community Pages so that you can communicate with other animal lovers! You can also find Animal Rescue League info and updates on Facebook and Twitter. As the use of social media grows, we hope to find new and interesting ways to keep you in the ARL loop.

Thank you for your patience and support!

The Animal Rescue League of Western PA is an
Open Door Shelter!
We take in any animal in need of a home.  Did you know that very few animal shelters in Western Pennsylvania accept all domestic animals, regardless of age, health or temperament? "Open Door" means that every animal finds shelter here, every day. For generations, the community has relied on us as a resource for adoption, foster homes, veterinary care, behavioral training and animal welfare advocacy. We consider the unique needs of all the animals in our care and work compassionately to prepare every safe, appropriately socialized pet for a wonderful new life.

The Animal Rescue League of Western PA Mission:

To provide temporary shelter, food, medial attention, and comfort to all abandoned, neglected and injured animals brought to us by the community; to restore lost animals to their owners or seek new homes for them, and educate the public about humane care of animlas with a goal of reducing overpopulation.
