Current Available Positions:

Veterinary Technician
Full time Veterinary Technician responsibilities include: examination  and vaccination of incoming animals, medicating and treating shelter animals,  assisting veterinarian during clinic appointments, prepping surgical patients, performing diagnostic tests (heartworm, parvo, Felv/FIV, radiographs), performing euthanasia, and some receptionist duties.  Applicants must be available to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Prior veterinary experience or a degree in veterinary technology is required.


Animal Care Attendant
Full time adoption counselor responsibilities include:screening and counseling potential adopters, handling animals, performaing matching of lost/found animals, aniswering phones, and making follow-up calls to previous adopters. Applicants must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Applicants must have excellent customer service skills, basic computer skills, be very detail oriented, and have a strong knowledge of animal care and behavior.  

Seasonal Kennel Assistant (at Rosedale)
The Animal Rescue League of Western Pennsylvania is seeking a full-time seasonal kennel assistant for the Rosedale Boarding Kennels campus for the summer (May 1- September 30). Duties include assisting manager in all areas of daily operation of boarding kennel and pet cemetery, daily cleaning of inside cages and outside runs, and walking and bathing dogs.
Rosedale is open to the public 7 days a week, Monday- Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm and Saturday and Sunday, 9:00am- 4:00pm.  The kennel boards dogs only and has cage space for 50 dogs.
Individual must be able to work weekends and cover manager's days off as well as have good customer relation skills and be able to work independently, without supervision for two days a week. Reply to

Volunteer Coordinator
The Volunteer Coordinator reports to the Operations Director. The following are a list of accountabilities:
1. Provide leadership to the overall volunteer goals and functions of the Animal Rescue League.
2. Manage current volunteer population
3. Recruit new volunteers on an on-going basis. Establish relationships with various community groups to recruit new volunteers. Development and implement new and innovative methods for recruiting and retaining volunteers.
4. Offer orientation on an on-going basis at time/days suitable to volunteers. Schedule and present special orientations, i.e. Pittsburgh Cares.
5. Ensure volunteers are properly trained and assigned to perform their job.
6. Work closely with the adoption, medical, and kennel departments to ensure a good working relationship exists between the department and volunteers.
7. Maintain accurate volunteer database.
8. Provide strong volunteer support to the Open Paw program on a daily basis.
9. Provide volunteer support to off-site adoption events when needed.
10. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or the executive director.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. College degree in a related field required.
2. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
3. Prior experience in managing a volunteer program.
4. Knowledge of animal handling and husbandry.
