Wildlife Rehabilitation Internships Available!

The Humane Animal Rescue Wildlife Center is seeking students who are interested in working as rehabilitation assistants.wlcbird

  • We are a fully licensed wildlife rehabilitation center that treats over 3,000 animals per year. Our mission is to release healthy animals back into the wild.
  • Internships include learning to give comprehensive physical exams, prescribing treatments, providing daily husbandry and nutrition for various native species.
  • Interns are taught to properly handle wild animals such as hawks, owls, and various mammals.
  • A commitment of 15-20 hours per week is required. The center is open 7 days a week, so scheduling is very flexible.
  • Candidates must have excellent communications skills, basic computer skills, and be able to work alone and in groups.
  • Students in the biological and environmental sciences fields are preferred.

We offer three Wildlife Rehabilitation internship sessions per year: spring, summer, and fall.  Prospective candidates may send an application, along with a resume and cover letter, for the internship session you desire if you are able to commit to the dates listed below.  Applications sent before or after application dates will not be considered. For more information on our internship opportunities, please contact jlindberg@animalrescue.org.

Summer

Application dates: March 1st – April 1st
  • Applications for summer internships will not be accepted before March 1st or after April 1st.
  • Interviews will be offered as applications are received on a first-come, first-served basis.
Starting date of internship: May 1st-14th
Ending date of internship: August 14th-28th

Fall

Application dates: July 1st – August 1st
  • Applications for summer internships will not be accepted before July 1st or after August 1st.
  • Interviews will be offered as applications are received on a first-come, first-served basis.
Starting date of internship: September 1st-14th
Ending date of internship: December 4th-18th

Spring

Application dates: November 1st – December 1st
  • Applications for summer internships will not be accepted before November 1st or after December 1st.
  • Interviews will be offered as applications are received on a first-come, first-served basis.
